Artex Removal, Complete Renovation

Long gone are those days where Artex was fashionable. More and more, perfect smooth & neat surfaces are in demand and dealing with the removal of Artex is very time consuming, yet possible. First of all make 110% sure there´s no Asbestos mixed with it. YES, you can just plaster over it easily, sure... but is that really dealing with the problem? Clients should know that plastering over it could lower the ceiling hight a small bit if just merely plastered over and that will get felt if the ceilings are low already. Removal is obviously the better option, and the cheapest money saving method I found, is to steam it and then scrape it off... not damaging the ceiling too much as you´ll need to plaster afterwards. This was a complete renovation, from the ceiling going down right to sanding down and staining + varnishing the parquet floor. Some walls were wallpapered and others painted. Skirtings were alcohol-stained before varnished and being asked to pay a lot of attention to detail, perfectly flush ceilings and walls were on the menu.

Shopfitting - Turning Old Into Slick and Glamorous (Boutique)

Every now and then, an exciting project is presented on my doorway - exploring the outer bounderies, color, design and the use. A lot of things could go wrong going beyond the norms, but even more could go better than imagined with a bit of thinking! This was an awesome project, where creativity and just the freedom to present ideas was warmly welcomed and it worked. A complete "facelift" to an old town store... mortered walls were covered with slick modern panels, beams were brought back to life by white-waxing them and small color changes made this a huge success for a what is to be, a cosy and beautiful Jewelry Boutique, set right in the heart of Carouge.

Wall Texture (Bored of the typical finishing?)

About 50% of my time, I spend painting and decorating walls. Painting´s straight forward once you have the appropriate and correct technique, you know your walls, your paint and corresponding brushes/rollers. Wall prep is very important to have a nice clean finish and if financially possible, a good quality paint. It´s easy to make a huge mess of a small paint job and this will be remebered for many years or cost you dearly rectifying it, so ask for enough experience & competence when contracting a painter... or just contact me :-/

I mostly don´t upload just any paint jobs, but this is not the usual job. It´s a thick type of "paint" mixture which is to be plastered onto the wall. A very fine and delicate process, as once it get´s dry, it´s very hard to change the texture/pattern. Loads of different effects could be polished/worked on and this is but only an example. The client basically had a small sample, and I worked from that and it came out very similar but on a bigger scale.

 

Ceiling Solutions!

I grew up with carpentry, the very first time I ever used a power tool, I was only 9 years old... it was only a jigsaw, but a lot of things happened there after! The photos speak for themselves, an excellent solution for a "cave" or any other area, as it acts as a insulator and as decoration. 

A Serving Counter Aluminium Structure for Burger Take-Away!

It´s been a while since I´ve done something for a more commercial envirnoment...it´s much harder and many other important issues are to be considered like the extensive use, the abuse and just wear and tear. The Gourmet Burger Bar "Holy Cow!" commisioned me for the serving counter, which is probably the object which will be most used, so I came up with this structure:

The final finish.... It´s well worth visiting this top class restaurant, we got treated to one of their burgers one day and it´s delicious!!
